New to Practice

The items listed below apply to EMR and Paramedic applicants:

    1. Application fee of $175.00 (CDN)
    2. A complete Initial Registration and Licensure Application, which includes all requisite documentation.
    3. Proof of legal name, which may be in the form of a Government issued birth certificate, marriage license, or legal affidavit.
    4. Proof of identification, which may be in the form of a copy of their drivers license or passport, or other government issued photo identification.
    5. Evidence of Canadian Citizenship or Legal Entitlement to live and work in Canada, which may be in the form of a Canadian Birth Certificate or documentation from Citizenship and Immigration Canada
    6. Verification of Registration/Licensure with a different Regulated Health Care Profession (if applicable) see example
    7. Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Record Check or International Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Record Check (must include all current and former names including middle names). Current within the three months prior to the applicant’s registration and/or licensure.
    8. Proof of Board approved Professional Liability Insurance Click here for the insurance criteria
    9. Resume detailing employment and education history including paramedic, or other regulated health care profession employment of the applicant.
    10. Electronic copy of the Initial Registration and Licensure Application Form, which is generated automatically once the form is completed.
    11. Any additional information required by the Registrar, Registration and Licensing Committee or Registration and Licensing Review Committee, when the applicants file is being assessed for completion.
    12. Record of Program Completion
    13. Record of Passing the Provincial Entry to Practice Examination (E.g. COPR Candidate Score Report).
    14. Upon a completed and successful application, the applicant will pay a $575 Registration & Licensure fee.

EMR/Paramedic Graduate

EMR/Paramedic Graduate applicants must submit all of the documents required for New to Practice applicants as stated above with the exception of the COPR Candidate Score Report. See below:

An EMR/Paramedic Graduate license can be applied for before COPR is written. New graduates must apply for the first available COPR exam following program completion to be eligible. EMR/Paramedic Graduates can apply through the New to Practice application and must meet all other criteria for New to Practice applicants, except successful completion of COPR.

Applicants must upload their COPR invoice showing their name and date of exam in the Proof of Entry to Practice Exam area. 

COPR results must be sent to the Regulator immediately following receipt by the applicant. For full details see the applicable see Policy 212.0

AEMCA

Applicants from Ontario that wrote the AEMCA (within 2 years of graduation) are also required to submit the Regulator’s Verification of Certification/Registration to the Ministry of Health. If you are currently working as a paramedicine practitioner in Ontario and are currently base hospital certified, please complete a From Another Canadian Jurisdiction Application i.e. Labour Mobility.
